Do you want to complement your teaching by making a recording on your computer for your students to access on the VLE? Using Personal Capture would enable you to do this!

 What is Personal Capture?

Personal Capture (by Echo360) is a facility which enables you to record whatever is on your PC screen to a video file.    You can include audio (a microphone is necessary) and also a video image of yourself if you want to (and if you have a webcam) which will give the personal touch.  After recording, you can make any minor changes and then publish your video for your students to view via the VLE.

How can I use Personal Capture?

You could:

  • Produce a "welcome" message for your students
  • Provide a feedforward or a feedback resource for their assignment
  • Supplement the formal face-to-face lectures with "mini-lectures" on complex topics
  • Provide a weekly talk before the formal lectures to enable your students to prepare for next week's topic.

Benefits for your students

  • They can play the video as many times as they want and wherever they are,
  • A video may appeal to their learning mode.
  • Distance Learners students may feel supported with the personal touch,
  • A weekly mini-lecture may help them with planning ahead and juggling their many commitments.
