The Good Teaching Project is capturing and making explicit the elements and components of good teaching practice in a range of common teaching contexts. Our videos of teaching practice identified as 'good' through a range of evaluative measures have been analysed against the elements and components of good teaching practice identified through interviews with colleagues. Each video is accompanied by a commentary, in which the teacher reflects on his/her teaching practice, and the intended outcomes of this approach.

This ongoing project is increasing the sharing of good practice and the development of benchmarking standards.

In the first stage of the project, faculty colleagues with responsibilities for teaching enhancement were interviewed, and identified the components of good teaching practice and where such practice is taking place in their faculty.

We are currently filming examples of good practice in a variety of learning contexts (lecture, seminar, laboratory and studio). Some of these films are now available to view, accompanied by our analysis and the individual practitioner's reflections.
