Learning and Teaching in Practice is an intensive three-day course which has been designed specifically to address the needs of new Postgraduate Teaching Assistants. It would also be of interest and value to anyone else who would like to develop and/or update their knowledge and experience in the theory and practice of learning, teaching and assessment.
Course Description
The course aims to strike a balance between exploring theory and developing practice through a range of participatory sessions. It also aims to provide a secure environment in which participants can share their experience, ideas and concerns. We aim to make the workshop as responsive as possible to the needs, interests and concerns of participants.
This course is recognised by the Staff Educational Development Association (SEDA) and a reflective element is a requirement for SEDA certification. Therefore, if you wish to achieve SEDA certification, you will be required to produce a portfolio (during the weeks immediately following the course, 5000 word equivalent) consisting of:
- An audit of your current professional duties
- A folder of evidence associated with the preparation and delivery of two teaching (and learning) sessions
- An evaluation of your teaching
- A needs analysis and action plan for your (continuing) professional development
